STORY

This table mat has been meticulously woven by Assam women weavers. Their talent is demonstrated in the skillful manner in which the brick red patterns of lines and dots have been magically woven into the cream base to create an attractive dining accessory

Handloom weaving done with a shuttle is a technique where skilled artisans use a shuttle, a small, boat-shaped device, to manually weave fabric. The loom consists of a frame with a shuttle. The shuttle is a device that carries the weft (horizontal thread) across the warp (vertical threads) of the loom. The shuttle is passed back and forth to weave the fabric.

As each handmade piece is unique it may contain slight variations in color and form.
